Theme Verse 2013

1 Thessalonians 5:21-But examine everything carefully, hold fast to what is good.

At first look, this verse has to do with thinking and analyzing. But when you look at it closely, you may find that when preparing to give a speech or debate, it is your job to analyze your speech and make sure that the content in your speech is something your audience wants to hear.

Yesterday, I presented a speech on the Amazon rainforest to some younger kids. I had a really cool power point with it. (I thought it was awesome!) This power point had some pictures of spiders on it. (I was talking about the amazon OK!) I warned everyone before I started those next slides, that there were some pictures of spiders and a snake. No one closed their eyes or anything, and I felt kind of stupid to do that. =D Later. I realized that what I did was right. Your audience needs to be first priority when giving a speech.

By the way, if anyone hasn't noticed already, this world is going to tell you stuff you probably don't need to know or see, or hear. How do you guard yourself? Hold fast to the Bible, that is good, and that is worthwhile.

God has given our chapter some talented leaders and speakers. I truly believe, that if we examine our hearts and our speeches, and hold fast to what is good, we will influence the world.

In Christ,
